GAMEDAY! Maryland vs. TBD
Friday, March 7 - 2:30pm (approximately)
TV - BTN
Sunday's game versus Ohio State made all Terp fans acutely aware- it's March! What a thriller! The B1G Ten tournament gets underway with three games on Wednesday beginning at 3:30pm. The opening round games can be streamed on Peacock. All remaining games, with the exception of the championship which will be telecast on CBS, can be viewed on BTN.
In earning the double-bye, the Terps start the tournament in the quarter-final round on Friday. They have the possibility of facing #5 seed Michigan, #12 seed Washington, or #13 seed Minnesota in their first game. All are formidable opponents in this very competitive conference that currently features 5 teams in the AP Top 25. Maryland checked in this week at #15.
Safe travels to all who are making the trek to Indianapolis. For those Terp fans at home, you'll want to clear your Friday calendar, if you haven't already done so. It's March and that means all Terp fans on deck, outfitted with positive energy, good mojo, and a little Terrapin magic please!
Go Terps!

*Terps in GOLD!
*Shy Sellers bobblehead - get your scratch-off ticket at the gate, for a chance to win
It just feels different in March! The intensity has been building since November and Terp fans are well aware of the implications of Sunday's top 20 matchup in College Park. The last regular season home game for our seniors- including Ohio native Shy Sellers, who grew up about two hours away from Columbus. The Terps are still in the mix for the coveted top four bye for the conference tournament and a victory over the Buckeyes would seal the deal. We've also got opportunity to avenge an earlier season loss to Ohio State, the only team that the Terps face twice in the regular season. Looking ahead, a win over the #12 team could go a long way in securing the opportunity to host the first two rounds in the NCAA Tournament, an advantage reserved for the top 16 seeds. So yeah, lots riding on this game.
If you've been following our team and women's basketball for a few seasons, you already know that the Buckeyes are led by Cotie McMahon, a 6'0" powerful, competitor from Dayton, OH. She averages 16.9 points per game and generates energy for her squad. She's joined by conference freshman of the year candidate Jaloni Cambridge. This speedy guard averages 16.3 points per game and thrives in Ohio State's signature pressure defense. Junior guard Chance Gray also averages double figure scoring at 13 points per game. Senior Taylor Thierry and two-time transfer Ajae Petty are experienced and have the ability to score in bunches. Ohio State has four losses on the season, all in conference and all on the road.
My suggestion- find your favorite GOLD Terp apparel and get out to see this team in person. If that's not a possibility, turn on the TV! Gold gear is not required (we realize that it can be a tough hue to pull off) but good energy is essential whether you're at the game or watching from the comfort of your favorite lucky chair.

*Terps in BLACK Thursday - for those color coordinating at home!
FAN SCOUT
It's senior night for the home team Hoosiers, plus there's still a sizable number of teams who are fighting for seeds (including the Terps!) So many good, meaningful conference games remain- four on Wednesday, two on Thursday and all teams closing out the season with a Saturday or Sunday game. This is the good stuff! Click here for the B1G schedule!
Indiana's an inconsistent, but talented team. They have signature wins over Baylor and Ohio State, and don't really have any bad losses. They win the games that they're supposed to win. You know that it will be spirited in Assembly Hall and that fiery coach Teri Moren, now in her 11th season at the helm and the all time winningest coach for WBB, will have them ready to compete. The program has tallied 9 consecutive 20-win seasons. This season, the Hoosiers average 69.8 points per game and are playing for way more than just being a spoiler, because they too are in the hunt for the coveted top 4 seeds. Senior Chloe Moore-McNeil leads the team from the point guard spot. She's experienced, quick, can distribute and score. Sydney Parrish is a big guard, who's played with the Hoosiers for two years, after transferring from Oregon. Also a senior, she's skilled on both sides of the ball. Senior Karoline Striplin is in her first season at Indiana, after playing for three seasons at Tennessee. She's an experienced big who can score, rebound and disrupt. Yardon Garzon is a threat to score at all three levels. She shoots 33% from behind the arc, good for 7th in the conference.
For the Terps, Kaylene Smikle is near the top in a few offensive categories, but Maryland fans know that the Terps best games are when everyone on the team contributes. We'll need all the good mojo, so we're counting on everyone's good vibes! Go Terps!

#21 Maryland (20-6,10-5 B1G) at Northwestern (9-5, 2-11 B1G)
Thursday, February 20 - 7:30pm
TV - BTN
*Terps in PINK!
Somehow it's mid-February and we can count our remaining regular season games on one hand. On paper, this game might not look like much, but there's really a lot simmering below the surface for both teams. For Northwestern, the Wildcats are fighting for their post-season life. A new Big Ten Tournament format, will exclude the three teams at the bottom of the conference standings. Logging two wins each- Northwestern, Purdue and Rutgers, are joined by Penn State at one win, in the fight to stay off those bottom three conference standing rungs.
At the other end of the Big Ten standings are the top four seeds, who earn a double bye- shortening their path to the conference tournament championship. USC and UCLA are currently in the two top spots with one loss each. After that, it gets a bit murky on the remaining top seeds- a handful of teams with the mathematical probability and some interesting late-season matchups, should be more than enough to keep all fans of women's basketball engaged. Of course, we'll all be rooting for the Terps.

#17 Maryland (19-6, 9-5 B1G) vs Michigan (18-7, 9-5)
Monday, February 17 - 6pm
XFINITY Center-College Park, MD
TV- BTN LIVE Stats Rosters
Michigan heads to College Park riding a 4 game win streak with wins over Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan State and Indiana. Their most recent victory, a come from behind affair at home, was Michigan's Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico 279th win at the school. This number is significant, because it is the most wins by any basketball coach (women or men) in Wolverines history.
Maryland was not able to extend their wave of momentum generated on the west coast, into Thursday's contest. The Terps will need to put together an inspired, complete game to compete with Michigan. Let's all muster a collective "We Must Protect This House" mentality and find the mojo we know we have. Terps vs. Everybody. Go Terps!

Big Thanks
Our program is extremely grateful and thankful for you and for all of our fans! We were very aware of a few other big games being played at the same time as our matchup with UCLA. If you came to the game, followed along on tv, or were switching back and forth- THANK YOU! It's been a tough stretch, but our fans have proven many times that they are here for our team - good times and not so good times. We're all resilient! Stay positive! Go Terps!
Many thanks also to those who have contributed to the Kim Lynch McFarland Family Fundraiser. As many of you know, Kim was a beloved team manager for women's basketball during Coach Frese's first years at Maryland. Our staff was much smaller then and Kim really operated as an extension of the staff, doing whatever needed to get done on the court and in the WBB office (including doing Brenda's hair.) On her fortieth birthday, Kim was diagnosed with a treatable, but incurable form of cancer - multiple myeloma. Cancer has impacted her family in many ways and as the Maryland family, we are committed to supporting them and assisting with their immediate needs, as well as their financial future. Thank you for your part in helping us, help the McFarland Family. Here's more on Kim-
