As we make our way through the season, like most journeys you need to anticipate a bump or two along the way, so your ability to change and make adjustments will be key, as will your positive attitude! Of course, enjoyment is essential, so be sure to look for and celebrate joy wherever and whenever you find it! Go Terps.
SEASON OPENER
Maryland vs Harvard
Monday, November 6, 2023 - 7:00pm tip
XFINITY Center - College Park, MD
TV: B1G+
Pre-game - Elite Eight banner drop - Get to your seats early.
44 - Our team will wear a "44" patch on their warmups in memory of WBB alum Tara Heiss, who passed away in July. We will have a more extensive tribute to Tara during halftime at our alumni game on January 20 vs Illinois.
Fan Scout
The Crimson are a guard-heavy team led by second year Head Coach Carrie Moore. If you follow Coach Moore's coaching trajectory, you may see some similarities with one of our assistant coach's (hint: Princeton, UNC). Harvard's roster is a balanced blend of seniors to first years (Harvard and others lingo for freshman.) They are led by 5'11" senior guard (and former high school teammate of our own Faith Masonius) Lola Mullaney. She's a stat filler and solid! Kennedi Heath is a 5'10" junior guard who was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year in her first year (see what I did there) campaign. The other senior on the squad is Harmoni Turner, a 5'9" guard who was on a tear at the end of last season. Harvard finished their 2022-2023 with a strong showing in their conference tournament, followed by a three game run in the WNIT, advancing to the Great 8 round. They were eliminated in the tournament by conference foe Columbia.
REBOUNDER EVENTS
Your Rebounder leadership team has a lot of great events in the works for the season. Now they need you! Have a look at our "Rebounder Dates" events sheet that's attached to this email. We'll need volunteers to help make the fun happen. Most events require only a short term investment of your time- like hosting a pre-game meal or helping out at a post-game social. If you want to do a little more, think about finding a good location with food, drinks, a good tv, and fun potential, to host a game watch party. If you want to do the most, we've got Senior Scrapbooks to create! No need to commit to anything now, just asking for some consideration at this point, but if you're ready to go, just reply to this email and I'll get you connected to the right person!

REBOUNDER NEWS - Tuesday, September 5
FALL 2023
We’re one week and one day into the fall semester. Somehow, but with consistency, school starts and we get immediately ramped way up! Yes, things are happening!
Our student-athletes started today with pre-season workouts. The NCAA does NOT allow these to be open to the public. These sessions are heavy on skills and are paired with weight workouts. For our coaches it’s a window into where we are skill and fitness-wise, as well as an early look at leadership and team dynamics. Team practices that ARE open, will begin the last week of September. I know many enjoy seeing the team in practice, prior to the start of games. Practice times will continue to be posted online at www.UMRebounders.com. We’ll also start prepping for a fan open practice event. Details will be emailed to Rebounders and posted on the group’s website.
For now, I hope you will continue to support our WBB Terp alums playing in the WNBA. The regular season is winding down and teams are closing in on or have already clinched the opportunity to compete in the playoffs.
REBOUNDERS
Your Rebounder leadership team has been working over the summer on updating our charter. Our charter accurately reflects our group’s purpose to "provide and generate support and interest in our team". Many other articles in the document however, don’t provide that same accuracy as our group has changed both organically and with new NCAA legislation. Expect to see these updates when we get together for our fall general membership meeting (date TBD.)
We’ll be rolling out membership information for the 2023-2024 season in a few weeks. Member level and associated benefits will be the same as in the previous few seasons. Our online membership / donation “Join Us” page remains as a convenient all-hours method to renew or make a gift. The Rebounders will continue to operate with membership donations accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents.
NAME, IMAGE and LIKENESS (NIL)
NCAA legislation that allows our student-athletes to be compensated financially, provides another avenue for fans to support our student-athletes. If you would like additional information on NIL, go to www.UMRebounders.com and scroll past the roster, to the "NIL - A Primer for Rebounders" portion of the page. As allowed, we will continue to provide information on NIL as it develops and evolves.
REBOUNDER NEWS - Summer Update - Friday, August 4
It's been awhile...
and although there haven't been regular emails, like during the season, you can be sure that things are happening for Maryland Women's Basketball! Our student-athletes have been engaged in summer workouts, pickup games, time away, classes, and even international play. Congrats to Shy for representing our school in USA Basketball competitions this summer. It's called summer break, but everything really keeps rolling along! Our coaches have been out at recruiting events, making phone calls, hosting visits, and finding time to schedule in restorative time away from the office! The transition from summer to fall will be here for everyone soon enough and we'll be ready to go! Here's a few things for you as we all prep for that shift!

Terps in the Pro's
Alyssa Thomas is having an historic year in the WNBA. She's putting up record setting numbers, while leading the Connecticut Sun- recently recording her 5th triple-double of the season. Diamond Miller is having an impactful rookie campaign for the Minnesota Lynx. Named the WNBA Rookie of the Month, this is a team on the rise and Diamond is one of the reasons for their ascent! While the Washington Mystics are working through quite a few injury issues, Tianna Hawkins and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, have been critical in picking up extra minutes for their team. Their combined durability, along with the addition of Abby Meyers, is helping the club stay in playoff contention. Unfortunately, Brionna Jones of the Connecticut Sun, suffered a season ending injury in late June. The Mystic's Kristi Toliver has been dealing with a nagging injury and has not played recently.
