JOURNAL ENTRY NO. 9: BIG AND BAD

If you are considering traveling to an away game with the Rebounders, now is the time to sign up.  I highly recommend it!  I went on many Rebounder trips over the years and I know there are many reasons to join the upcoming outings.

First of all, you will not have to drive AND you will, instead, ride on a big, bad, black University of Maryland bus.  The joy of driving up to our opponent’s arena looking ominous and powerful is worth the trip.  The extremely soft seats and bathroom facilities add to your comfort. You will also have a chance to watch some videos of our previous victories.  We never know what will be shown, but the games are always exciting.  Could we ever see “The Shot” by Kristi enough times?

Treats are often supplied by generous Rebounders like Helen Pickens and Althea Miller.  They maneuver through the narrow bus aisle balancing plates of cookies, candy, and snacks.

Perhaps the best reason to travel to the away games is the opportunity to socialize with other Rebounders.  Last year when we went to Duke, Obie and I happened to sit across the aisle from newly-joined Rebounders, Mike and Ann Henry.  We introduced ourselves and the conversation just rolled.  We stayed overnight on that outing, and Mike and Ann joined the fun in the hotel bar.  It seemed like we were old friends by the time we arrived back in College Park.

I cannot exactly promise a victory when we are on the road, but I can promise a leisurely, pleasant ride with the best boosters in the world!

E-mail Todd Carton NOW to sign up for future trips. Go to http://www.umrebounders.com/activities/travel.htm for the details, and I’ll see you on the bus!
